Amateur Radio Audio/Picture Examples
Audio:
- HF Digital Voice: This example was recorded on July 21, 2007 at approximately 1800Z on 14.236 MHz during the AOR Digital Voice Net (Saturdays and Sundays at 1800Z) using WinDRM MELP version 4.1 (released on December 27, 2006). More information is available at http://n1su.com/windrm/ . MELP stands for mixed excitation linear prediction. This is the vocoder that WinDRM uses. WinDRM is a variant of Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) that has been designed to fit within the current bandwidths allocated for phone on the HF bands. Whereas, the version of DRM that is being used for shortwave broadcasting occupies approximately 10kHz, WinDRM fits within a 3 kHz voice channel. Some people may say that the other station is hard to understand due to the low bitrates involved, but also notice that there is no noise to contend with.
